James T. "Jim" Oswald

James Thomas Oswald, known affectionately as Jim, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at the age of 62.
He was born on August 13, 1962, in Chelsea Massachusetts, he is a son of Thomas Hepworth Oswald and the late Elizabeth Barton Oswald.
Jim was a proud attendee of Clemson University, where he was an active member of the university band. His early career took root at Innova.net, where he worked as a software developer. He was an owner of PinPoint GeoTech where his team and the City of Clemson Public Works Department developed a unique GPS data collection system for municipal waste hauling and issue resolutions. The successful rollout of this system paved the way for its adoption by various cities and state agencies
Following his impactful career in software development, Jim embarked on a new venture with his beloved wife, Theresa "Teri" Lynn Oswald. Together, they opened the Palmetto Smokehouse and Oyster Bar, as well as Palmetto Event Catering.
When Jim wasn't working, He could often be found listening to music, sailing, dreaming of flying, and engaging in woodworking. He was a former member of the Clemson Rotary, served as a Boy Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 161 , held a position as a city councilman for the City of Clemson for 8 years, member of CUTBA (Clemson University Tiger Band Association), and was proud of his association with the Clemson Fellowship Club.
Jim is survived by his cherished family, including his wife, Teri; his sons Bryan Matthew Hendricks (Julianne) of Starr, SC, Thomas H. Oswald (Mollie) of Rembert, SC, and James B. Oswald (Jessica Wilkinson) of Summerville, SC. The legacy Jim leaves behind is further enriched by his grandchildren Elizabeth LeNoir Oswald, Mary Thomas Oswald and Madalyn Wiles. He is also survived by his father, Thomas Hepworth Oswald, and his brother, Jeffrey H. Oswald of Pecan Hill, TX.
James Thomas Oswald was predeceased by his loving mother, Elizabeth Barton Oswald.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 pm, Monday, May 12, 2025 in the Chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Road, Central, SC 29630. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
