James V. Patterson, Sr.

James Vandiver Patterson, Sr., 82, of 30 Hickory Way and husband of Mary Jane Coker Patterson, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, November 12, 2008.
Born in Clemson, a son of the late Isaac Newton and Bertha Lewis Patterson, he served as a State Farm Insurance Agent for 44 years, having received many awards culmunating with the prestigous, Crystal Excellence Award. He was a very active member of the Clemson Community having been a charter member and Past President of the Clemson Rotary Club, the first President of the Oconee County Board of Realtors, past President of the Clemson Chamber of Commerce, a member of the original CARC Board and a member, former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church of Clemson. He was a 1951 graduate of Clemson College, an IPTAY representative for many years and served as the President of IPTAY from 1987-89. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, James V. (Vandy) Patterson, Jr. and wife, Tracy of Central; Gary Patterson of Knoxville, TN, Lewis Patterson and wife, Kim of Clemson; a daughter Paula P. Borrelli and husband, Paul of Mathews, NC; 4 brothers, Ike Patterson of Anderson, Bobby Patterson of Atlanta, David Patterson of Easley and George Patterson of Clemson; two sisters, Elizabeth Grayson of Columbia, SC and Dr. Maryland Anderson of Fredricksburg, TX; and ten grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Patterson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central-Clemson Commons.
Funeral services will be 3 PM, Sunday at First Baptist Church of Clemson with burial to follow in Memory Gardens.
The family is at the home.
