James “Jimmy” P. Orr
Easley, SC
James Paul Orr, fondly known as "Jimmy," passed away on March 13, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina. Born on April 2, 1955, in Greenville, he lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a passion for his family and community.
Jimmy was a man of many talents and interests. A proud graduate of Anderson College with a degree in Fine Arts, he combined his creative spirit with a deep commitment to public service. Early in his career, he served as a Deputy Sheriff for Anderson County, Narcotics Division, and the Williamston Police Department, with unwavering courage and integrity. Later, he devoted many years to the United States Postal Service, retiring there and leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jimmy was a man who brought joy and warmth to those around him. Known for being fun to be around, he possessed a lively personality that endeared him to friends and family alike. He found great pleasure in reading and was a talented musician, sharing his gift with the congregations of Mt. Airy Baptist Church and Mt. Springs Baptist Church as a Music Minister in his early years. Some of his happiest moments were spent with family at Edisto Island, creating cherished memories that will endure through the generations.
Jimmy took immense pride in his role as a family historian. He was a contributing member of the Piedmont Historical Society, where his love for history and community was evident. Additionally, he was dedicated to Mt. Springs Masonic Lodge #302 A.F.M. and the Scottish Rites, organizations that reflected his commitment to brotherhood and service.
His family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his brother, Timothy Orr, and wife Crystal of Easley, their children Christian Merritt, Steven Orr, and Olivia Orr; beloved daughter, Emily Orr Black, and her husband, Benjamin, of Piedmont, their children Erin, Jacob, Skyler, and Ashlyn; his son, John Paul Pridmore Orr, of Powdersville, and son Gavin. Their love and support were a source of great pride and happiness for Jimmy.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jewell Paul Orr; his mother, Mary Erlean Pridmore Orr; and his brother, Patrick McKay Orr.
A Celebration of Jimmy's life will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home Downtown, 305 West Main Street, Easley, SC 29640.
This gathering will offer an opportunity for family, friends, and community members to honor and remember a man whose life touched so many.
Jimmy's legacy is one of devotion—to family, community, and country. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his contributions will continue to inspire for years to come.
