James Carl "Shorty" Porter, 83, of 123 Couch Lane, husband of the late Ovaline Rackley Porter, died Wednesday November 7, 2007 at Palmetto Health Baptist - Easley.

Mr. Porter was born in Pickens County, a son of the late John and Stella Grant Porter. He retired from Mayfair Mill - Glenwood Plant and was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Frances and Don Dilworth, of Greer and Kathy and Odell Sullivan, of Simpsonville; grandchildren, David Dilworth and his wife,Emily, of Monroe, NC, Debbie Morrison and husband, Mike, of Lyman, SC, Douglas Sullivan, of Simpsonville and Dianne Wells and husband, Joey, of Columbia; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Dylan Morrison, of Lyman and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Stevie Carl Porter; brothers, Neal Porter, Paul Porter, Leroy Porter and Edward Porter; sisters, Nellie Chappel, Julie Crowe and Dorthula Waters.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown, with the Reverend Terry Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
