James "Dooner" Curtis Rackley, Jr.

James Curtis "Dooner" Rackley, Jr., 87, husband of Patsy Heath  Rackley, of Easley, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023.

Born in Easley, he was a son of the late Edith Henson Gravely and James Curtis Rackley, Sr.

Dooner retired from Sangamo Plant in Pickens after more than 35 years of service and later started and worked with his son and grandson at Rackley Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.

He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and was an usher for many years, and Bates Masonic Lodge #189. He was also a Shriner and proudly served with the United States Navy.

In addition to his loving wife of 67 years, Dooner is survived by a son, Steve Rackley (Stacy Bullard) of Easley; a daughter, Patti Rackley Boone of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Jacob Heath Rackley (Molly Brown), Heather Boone Nelms (Brian), and Tara Boone; and great-grandchildren, Ellie Bea and Sadie Belle Rackley, and Aidan Boone.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Gregory Rackley.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown. A private burial will take place at a later date.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Thursday,  October 5, 2023 at the funeral home.
