James Milford Roe
Six Mile
James M. Roe, 78, of Six Mile, SC passed away on September 5, 2012. Born in Dover, NJ, Jim was the son of Hampton Roe and Irene Lamberton Roe.
A graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, Jim went on to play football at the University of Delaware, and then coach at the high school and college levels. Coach Roe loved the game, the players, and his fellow coaches. After working diligently and successfully as a small-business owner and salesman, Jim relocated to Six Mile to pursue his dream of living on the farm owned by his relatives. He loved working outdoors,and his acres of apple trees, berries, and eventually cattle became his passionate pursuit.
Jim is survived by Barbara Phillips Roe, his high school sweetheart and wife of 54 years; his two children, Pamela Roe Coleman (David) and James Mark Roe; his four grandchildren, Kristin Gibson (Walker), Jonathan Coleman, Abby Roe, and James Coleman; brother, Bruce Roe; sister, Carol Dean Morrison; and special aunts, Virginia Bracken and Corrien Lee. He is pre-deceased by his brother, Tommy Roe, and his beloved aunt, Grace Spencer.
"Pop-Pop" will be remembered for his work ethic, his loving heart, his playful spirit, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
