James Earl "Jack" Roper, 77, of 231 Henderson Street and husband of Joyce Fisher Roper, passed away Thursday September 5, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Roper was born in Pickens County, the son of the late Dewey Henry and Ellen Tretha Chappell Roper. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War and retired after 22 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and was a Baptist.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a brother, Lowell Roper, of Pickens; 2 sisters, Jeanette Fisher, of Piedmont and Faye McWhorter Bayne, of Sunset; several neices and nephews...more than you can count...and was loved by many others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Spencer Roper, Charles Roper, W.T. Roper and Ray Roper; three sisters, Katherine Hendricks, Ruth Simmons and Tiney Roper.
Funeral services with full military honors will be 2:00 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be ferom 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
