James R. Stokes, born again Christian and God fearing man, died Tuesday, August 22, 2006.
He was born on February 19, 1936 to the late Clifton B. and Lillie Whitt Stokes.
James was an active and faithful member of Gap Hill Church of God in Six Mile and a Prayer Partner with Channel 16. He retired from Platt-Saco Lowell after thirty-eight years of service.
He is survived by his beloved wife JoeAnn M. Staffer Stokes of the home; a son, Scott Stokes of Salem; a brother, Haskell Stokes of Greenville; two sisters, Shelby Jean Gravely of Whispering Pines and Daisy McNeeley of Liberty; ands several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 25th at Gap Hill Church of God. Burial followed in Westview Cemetery, Easley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or to Gap Hill Church of God, 3540 Walhalla Highway, Six Mile, SC 29682.
Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley, assisted the family with arrangements.
