James Edward Teal, Sr. was born in McRae, Georgia on October 14, 1935.
After graduating high school, he entered the Air Force and served honorably for over 26 years. After retiring from his last assignment at Clemson University Air Force ROTC, he served another 20 years working in the Army ROTC program at Clemson. During this time, he was awarded a Bachelor’s degree from Limestone College.
He is pre-deceased by his wife, Tannie Browning Teal and a brother, Jerry Teal. He is survived by his three children, Nancy Thomas (Gill), James Teal, Jr. (Brenda), and Greg Teal (Cecelia). His grandchildren are Deanna Giunta (Brian), Karen Wham (Allen), Patterson Thomas (Carrie), Caroline Manning (Jeff), Jay Teal (Lacey), Rebecca Teal, Gregory Teal (Sarah), Patrick Teal (Maria), John-Michael Teal (Beth Anne), and Daniel Erichsen-Teal (Renae). He has 17 great-grandchildren. He has a sister, Sara Stevenson.
His life was characterized by his service to his nation, his family, his church, and most importantly, his Lord Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, April 15th at Central First Baptist Church, 207 Johnson Road, Central, SC 29630. The family will receive friends at 1:00 prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Any memorial gifts in Jim’s honor can be given to Central First Baptist Church where he was a member for 55 years.
