James (Ted) Thrift

James Thrift, 80, of Pickens, passed away Tuesday, August 03,2010 at his home.

Born in Oconee County, he was the son of the late Clarence C. and Floris Stewart Thrift, Mr.Thrift was a brickmason and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Thrift served in the U.S. Navy and the Korean War.


Mr. Thrift is survived by his wife Geri Thrift of the home; a daughter,Stacey Chapman; two sons, David and Michael Thrift; a sister Sharon T. Alexander; four brothers, Dwight, Horace, Ray, and Roy Thrift; four grandchildren, Lauren Chapman, Mary Brooks Thrift, David Harrison Thrift, and Amanda Deanhardt.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Thrift was predeceased by a brother Curtis Thrift.

Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 6:00 until 8:00PM Thursday at the Funeral Home.
