James "Don" Wade Clemson

James Donald Wade, 78, husband of Barbara Henderson Wade, died Thursday, June 7, at Clemson Downs. He was a native of Tyronza, Arkansas, and was the son of Nunley Jesse and Cleo Pearl Humphries Wade. He was an assistant football coach at Clemson University from 1953-1967, a head football coach at Tennesse Tech University from 1968-1982, an Athletic Director from 1974-1980, and was an administrative assistant to football at Clemson University from 1983-1988. He was a US Army veteran and a member of East Clemson Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years are daughters, Donna Wade Scoggins and husband Mitchell of Rydal, GA, Beth Wade Weathersby and husband Frank of Cartersville, GA; son Clint Wade and wife Lorraine of Newnan, GA; grandchildren, Kurt and Blake Scoggins of Rydal, GA, Kyle Tucker of Cartersville, GA, Chris, Maggie, and Don Norris Wade of Newnan, GA; step-grandsons, Douglas Weathersby of Walden, MA, and James Weathersby of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Tuffy Wade of Lenoir City, TN, Ted Wade of Cartersville, GA; sisters Sharon Cornwell of Lenoir City, TN, Millie Sue Higdon of Charleston, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, at 2:00pm at East Clemson Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 8, from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
