James Luther Whitman

James Luther Whitman, 86, husband of Lorene Brown Whitman, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Bristol Regional Hospital in Bristol, TN. A native of Central he was the son of the late Luther and Elizabeth James Whitman.
In addition to his wife he is survived by son, Larry K. Whitman and his wife Elizabeth of Easley; daughters, Shelby W. Welborn of Liberty, Rita W. Moore, and husband David of Liberty; brothers, Buford Whitman of Kingsport, TN, George Whitman of Virginia; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00pm in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central with burial to follow in Mt Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11am 1pm at the funeral home prior to the service. The family is at the residence, 13 Nealy Street, Liberty, SC 29657.
