JANE TAYLOR EIDSON, Clemson, S.C.
Jane Taylor Eidson, 71, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Cottingham Hospice House. She was born in Pilot Mountain, NC on January 10, 1937 to the Martha Cook Taylor and William David Taylor.
Jane served as Minister of Music at Darlington Presbyterian Church in Darlington, SC, and St. Paul United Methodist and Highland Park United Methodist Churches in Florence, SC. She was a member of the Florence Junior League, and served as Provisional Education and Membership Chairmen. She taught public school music at Byrnes Academy and Greenwood Elementary School in Florence, and served as President of the Music Teachers Association.
Jane moved to Clemson in 1978 and joined her husband at Clemson Animal Hospital as Hospital Manager. She was a member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, and served as Elder, Choir Member, Hand Bell Choir Member, Children's Choir Leader, Chairman of Wedding Guild and Worship Committee. She was given lifetime membership in Presbyterian Women. She was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow by Clemson-Calhoun Rotary, was a member and past President of Clemson Garden Club, and member of Clemson University Women's Club.
Jane was a member of the Auxiliary to the SC Association of Veterinarians and served in many offices including President, Member of American Veterinary Medical Association, and delegate from SC for several years.
Jane is survived by husband, Dr. James A. Eidson; son, James L. Eidson and wife Joanne of Sumter, SC; daughter, Jean Eidson MacNeil and husband Wade of Charlotte, NC; grandsons, Alexander and Cameron Eidson, and Breton and Brodie MacNeil.
A Memorial Service will be held at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church at 2pm Sunday, November 2, 2008 with visitation following in Tartan Hall at the church.
