Janet Shirley Reed Hooper, 81, of 209 Lark Circle and wife of Merle Stanley Hooper, Sr., died Wednesday, November 25, 2009.
Born in Peapack, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Adrian Bruce and Helen Gladys Force Reed. Prior to being a homemaker, Mrs. Hooper worked for 12 years as a bank teller in Dover, NJ. She was a very dedicated and long-time member of Pendleton United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Monday Night Sharing Group. In addition to enjoying her family and all the family pets, she supported many local charities.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are one son, Merle Stanley (Butch) Hooper, Jr. and wife, Jane of Rock Hill, SC; three daughters, Kristine Ann Hooper Reeves and husband, John of Central, Amy Jeanne Hooper Zhu of Anderson, and Ann Elaine Hooper of the home; and four grandchildren, John Weston Reeves, Jr, Paul Stanley Hooper, Michelle Aihua Zhu and Stephanie Meihua Zhu.
Funeral services will be 3 PM, Sunday at Pendleton UMC with Rev. Ben Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 PM, Sunday in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
The family is at the home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pendleton UMC, 217 Broad Street, Pendleton, SC 29670.
