Janet Griffin Hopkins born December 25, 1949 to William Woodrow and Clara G. Hopkins. Janet is survived by one sister, Elizabeth Derrick (Bennie) of Chapin and one brother Jim Hopkins (Donna) of Easley. Other siblings were William Woodrow Hopkins, Jr., and Rachel Helen Hopkins Fowler. She is survived by nieces Laura Newman (Rob) of Southern Pines, Ginger McDonald, of North Carolina, Alexis Dudley (Derek) of Key West, Fla., step niece Jennifer Peden (Doug) of Simpsonville, nephews Byron Hopkins (Audria) of Williamston, JD Hopkins (Lauren) of Easley and step nephew Jake Nabors of Pickens. Six great nieces, six great nephews, three great-great nieces, one great-great nephew, two great step nieces and a great step nephew.
Janet was a long-term caregiver of her nephew James Woodrow Barbary, deceased.
A lifelong resident of Easley, she was a graduate of Easley High School, North Greenville College and received a degree in Physical Education from Furman University. Janet loved sports and working with children and youth teaching baseball, softball, and other sports. She taught for a period in Pickens County before working at Ryobi in Pickens and as an employee of Pelzer Recreation Department in Pelzer. She was of the Methodist faith growing up at First United Methodist in Easley and currently a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church of Easley. She was a Lay Speaker for the Methodist church and had worked for the former director of the Methodist Camp in Cleveland, S. C. during her summers.
