Janet Zimmermann, a beloved wife, mother, and compassionate caregiver, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on July 11, 1948, in New York, to James and Margaret TenKate, Janet's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her profession.

Janet dedicated her career to caring for others, serving as a charge nurse in multiple nursing homes where she found profound joy in nurturing the elderly. Her roles also included working as an office nurse in an OBGYN's office, a position through which she forged lifelong friendships that enriched her life and those around her. Her great personality drew people in, making her a cherished friend and confidante.

In 1965, Janet’s life took a beautiful turn when she met her loving husband, Bill. Their meeting as nursing aides in a nursing home blossomed into a sweet romance filled with laughter and affection. Their 57 years of marriage were marked by shared adventures, from bowling alleys to the sandy shores of the Jersey Shore and the history-laden fields of Gettysburg. Together, they relished camping trips in Vermont and Massachusetts, creating cherished memories, including taking their daughters to a Red Sox game.

Janet was especially proud of her role as a mother. Her two daughters were the lights of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She took great care to make their birthdays special, often singing "Happy Birthday" in her unique, high, off-key style that has become a fond memory to her family. Supporting her girls through all of life's ups and downs, she created a nurturing environment filled with love and encouragement, forging an unbreakable bond with them.

Janet was a strong Christian who held her family together in their spiritual strength. She spent every morning with her daily devotions and faithfully attended First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, South Carolina, since 2018.

Janet leaves behind her beloved husband, Bill, whose heart echoes with the laughter and love they shared over the decades. Her spirit will live on in the memories of her family and friends, who will forever cherish the warmth she brought to their lives.

She leaves behind not only her husband Bill, but also her daughter Pat Woodruff (Ken); her grandchildren, Courtney Glouse (Josh), Kevin Glouse, Ashley Cook (Thom), Lindsey Woodruff, Allyson Torres (Tommy), Matthew Marshall (Caitlin); and great-grandchildren, Alex, Caleb, Thom Jr, Lily, Britton, McKenna, Elizabeth Ann, and Zeke.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her daughter, Beth Ann Mabie; her brothers, Henry, Red, Jim, John, Rob, Rick, and Don TenKate; and a sister, Minnie Vanduzer.
