Janice Mae Abbott Jenkins, 93, of Clemson, peacefully passed away on March 21, 2026. Janice was born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Clifford Douglas Abbott & Helen Barton Abbott.
Janice graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, New York. After high school, she furthered her education at Katherine Gibbs Premier Secretarial School. Janice spoke multiple languages and had a passion for traveling the world as a proud TWA Flight Attendant. Following her excursions, she was introduced to her husband Clark Jenkins, a Lt. Colonel of the U.S. Air Force. Janice gracefully and proudly transitioned to a new role as U.S. Air force Wife. She was well known for her love for cooking, entertaining, and exemplary dinner parties she would host and continued this long after the Air Force.
In 1973, Janice moved to Clemson and became an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Her faith was important to her, and she contributed by teaching Sunday School and volunteering at the church’s Thrift Shop.
Janice also had a special love for animals and sewing. Above all, she was proud of her family, which was a central part of her life.
Janice will be remembered for her warm spirit, generosity, and the love she shared with those around her.
Janice is survived by her son, Clifford Abbott Jenkins (Missy); daughter, Suzanne Deloris Hill; grandchildren, Janice Alexandra Wilson (Geoffrey), John Patrick Croix Hill, Caroline DeLaughter Jenkins, Clifford Abbott Jenkins II (United States Army), and Samuel Clark Jenkins (United States Army); great grandchildren, Tanner Nathan Wilson, Piper Mae Wilson.
In addition to her parents, Janice is preceded in death by her Husband, Lt Colonel Alva Clark Jenkins, and first cousin, Franklin Burroughs.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 27th, 2026, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, starting at 3 PM.
