Janice Lee Rees, 64, of Easley, South Carolina, loving wife of Ronald Martin Rees, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
Born on June 13, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, She was a daughter of the late Kenneth J. Hellstrom and Carol Jackson Hellstrom. Janice’s journey through life was marked by deep love for her family, steadfast resilience, and the warmth she shared with everyone who knew her. Janice graduated from Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, Illinois, as a proud member of the class of 1980. A loving wife and sister, Janice is remembered as someone who brought joy to those around her. She was the rock of her husband, Ron, supporting him with boundless love and steadfast strength. Friends and family recall Janice as someone fun to be around, always sharing warmth, humor, and a comforting presence. She was known for her toughness, a trait that carried her through life’s challenges, including her courageous fight as a breast cancer survivor, an accomplishment that filled her and those who loved her with pride. Janice’s passions infused her life with creativity and delight. She was an excellent cook, often delighting family and friends with her culinary talents. Her artistic side was evident in her intricate needlepoint, crafts, and remarkable drawing abilities, leaving behind handmade pieces and cherished memories.
In addition to her husband of 50 years, Janice is survived by her two sisters, Diane Bradaric (James) and Jeri Pauly (Doug); and her longtime friend, Jim Fleming.
In addition to her parents, Janice is preceded in death by her sisters, Cheryl Cyrkiel and Karen Seef; and her brother, Kenneth J. Hellstrom, Jr.
Services will be private.
