Rebecca Jane "Janie" Gibson Ulmer, known to her grandchildren as "BoBo", 65, of 108 Powers Drive, died Friday, October 12, 2007, at her home.
Born in Easley, a daughter of the late Harry Ansel Gibson and the late Lucille Coleman Gibson Hayes, Mrs. Ulmer was a homemaker and devoted member of Good News Fellowship Center were she taught Sunday School for many years, until her death.
Surviving are her husband, Boswell R. "Tex" Ulmer, III of the home, to whom she was a wonderful wife for 49 years; a son, Scott Ulmer of Liberty; two daughters, Kathy Mitchell and her husband, Sam, and Kristi Hunter and her husband, Eric, all of Easley; a brother, Pastor Jerry Gibson, and wife Katie of Liberty; a sister; Vivian Durham of Easley; three sister-in-laws, Ann Gibson of Liberty, Katherine Worth of Moncks Corner, Julia Crawford and a brother-in-law Bill Crawford of Tennessee; five grandchildren, Chris Mitchell and his wife Jennifer, Jennifer Carrano and her husband Joey, Chasity Ulmer, Haley Ulmer, and Ryan Hunter, and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ulmer was predeceased by two brothers, Bobby Gibson and Reverend Alton Gibson.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 15, 2007 at 11:00 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorials be made to the American Cancer Society of Pickens County, c/o Carol Grant, 783 Griffin Mill Road, Pickens, SC 29671; or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
