Jayne Mobley Harwood

August 2, 1934 — October 15, 2023

Jayne Mobley Harwood, 89, of Anderson, South Carolina, wife of the late Jim Thomas Harwood, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at her home.

Born on August 2, 1934, in Palatka, Florida, a daughter of the late Lionel and Minnie Chadwick Mobley. Jayne was a lifelong learner who valued education. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Miami, where she developed a passion for teaching. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to shaping young minds and inspiring her students to reach their full potential. In addition to her dedication to teaching, Jayne had many other talents and interests. She was an exceptional baker and known for her delicious pecan pies. Her love for shopping and finding the best deal was evident in her stylish wardrobe, always dressed impeccably. Jayne also had a deep affection for horses and enjoyed riding and spending time around them whenever possible. What truly set Jayne apart was her unwavering faith and commitment to sharing Christ's love with everyone she encountered. Whether it was with her students or strangers she met along the way, Jayne made it a point to spread kindness and the word of Jesus wherever she went. She and Jim were members of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley for many years and was currently a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Anderson. Additionally, Jayne cherished the friendships and lifelong memories she made as a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Jayne will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her legacy as a loving mother and grandmother will endure through the lives of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that her presence made this world a brighter place.

Jayne is survived by two sons, Brian Harwood (Sheri), and Wayne Harwood (Tammy); a granddaughter, Shelby Morris (Ryan); a niece, Julie Lauderdale (Chris); a great-niece, Haley Postiglione (Vincent); a great-nephew, Hunter Yavorsky; and best friend Norman Miser.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Harwood; a sister, Joan Lauderdale; an infant brother, Lionel Mobley Jr.; and her parents, Lionel and Minnie Mobley.
