Jayne Watson Tolleson, 86, born on October 28, 1938, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 surrounded by her grandchildren. Born in Shelby, NC to the late Frank Watson and the late Frances Webb Watson.
She leaves behind a legacy that will forever warm the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. This beloved matriarch embodied the essence of warmth and friendship, remembered fondly by all as “only one Jayne.”
Throughout her vibrant life, Jayne was more than just a friend; she was a beacon of light, a source of joy, and an inspiring spirit with a strong personality that naturally drew people to her. Known for her southern wit and undeniable charm, Jayne had a unique ability to turn strangers into friends, creating connections that were as lasting as they were meaningful. Her laughter resonated, filling rooms and hearts alike, and her adventurous spirit saw her savoring travels far and wide—each journey a new page in her ongoing story.
As Proud Grandma Jayne, she cherished her role in the lives of her grandchildren, crafting countless funny stories and treasured memories that will be shared for generations. She adored spending time with her family.
Jayne enjoyed life at a brisk pace, always on the go and eager to explore the adventures that awaited her. She lived with a passion that inspired those around her to appreciate the little moments, to travel, and to create lasting friendships. Her enthusiasm was infectious, inspiring many to rejoice in life's simple pleasures.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by son, Eric Tolleson and sister, Margaret Rippy.
Jayne is survived by son, Barry Tolleson (Teresa); daughter-in-law, Linda Tolleson; grandchildren, Justin Tolleson, Caroline Tolleson (Ferron), Ian Tolleson and Aiden Tolleson; great-granddaughter, Zofia Jones and many close, dear friends.
A private service will be held at a later date.
As we celebrate Jayne’s remarkable journey, we remember her not only for her strong spirit and joyous laughter but also for the warm memories she gifted to those who loved her. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide us, reminding us of the beauty of friendship, love, and adventure in every heartbeat.
