Jean Cone Kines

Jean Cone Kines, 91, of Pendleton, South Carolina, passed away on September 24, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Ward Odom Kines.

Born July 26, 1935, in Altoona, Alabama, she was the daughter of Gilbert and Edna Louise Musgrove Cone. Jean was a talented cosmetologist, known for her work in the Upstate, including at El Matador in Easley.

A beautiful woman inside and out, Jean was remembered for her warmth, strength, intuition, spirited personality, and deep devotion to the people she loved. She cared for everyone around her, always making sure family and friends were fed, welcomed, and cared for. She was the heart of her family—the one who kept everyone connected, encouraged family gatherings, and made sure her loved ones stayed close.

Jean loved working in her yard, cooking, sewing, welcoming company into her home, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling and treasured the opportunity to visit Hawaii and spend time with her sister. She was a faithful member of Croswell Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Odom Kines (Cassie) of Pendleton; her daughter, Debbie Jean Kines (Michael); her three sisters, Cathleen Griffin (Charles), Wood Jewell (Gary) and Inez Kailieha; a brother; Jack Cone (Peggy); her three grandchildren, Zack Rogers (Lacey) of Liberty, Dylan Rogers of Six Mile, and Stella Rose Kines of Pendleton; and her great-grandchildren, Eli Rogers and Ace Rogers.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd Cone and her brother in law Sam Kailieha.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Croswell Baptist Church for its sanctuary fund at 219 S Fishtrap Rd, Greenville, SC 29611.
