Jean Lawrence

Jean Hibbard Lawrence, 94, and widow of William Lawrence and Charles Mettam, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018. She was born in Port Chester, NY the daughter of John Van Ord Hibbard and Wyncia Cato Hibbard.
Jean was an avid needle-pointer. Over the course of several years she needle-pointed all the kneelers at St. George's Episcopal Church in Durham, NH. Jean was an active member there for many years. She was involved with the vestry for several years, and won the St. George's medal for her service there. She was most proud of being part of the altar guild. Jean also loved playing tennis and figure skating. After the death of her husband, at the age of 68, Jean enrolled at Syracuse University, where she lived in the dorm, and earned her Master's degree in Information Resource Management.
In addition to her husbands and her parents, Jean was predeceased by a sister, Helen Webster. She is survived by her daughter Abigail Donhauser (Philip) of Seneca, SC, and son Jonathan Downer (Patricia) of Richmond, VT; and a niece, Wyncia Clute, of Boulder, CO.
A memorial service will be held in the spring at St. George's Episcopal Church, in Durham.
