Jean Lanham Nickless, 74, wife of James "Jim" Peck Nickless passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 peacefully at her home.
Jean was born in Edgefield, SC and was a daughter of Grace Simons Lanham Lewis of Clemson and the late W. Joe Lanham. She was a 1969 graduate of Clemson University and earned her Master's Degree in Education from Georgia State University. She was a retired school teacher having taught in a number of communities throughout the 35 years she resided in the state of Georgia. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Clemson where she also taught Sunday School and taught in the English as a Second Language program. She loved gardening and was a member and served in various leadership positions with the Clemson Garden Club. While a student at Clemson she was a member of the sorority that became Chi Omega.
She was a loving wife, mother and "Gran" who truly cherished her family. She showed her love through her cooking, hosting gatherings, and was a friend to many. Jean was very thoughtful, outgoing, and had a generous heart.
In addition to her husband of 52 years, Jean is survived by her mother of Clemson; her son, Daniel James Nickless and wife, Laurie of Brookhaven, GA; daughter, Katherine Nickless Hutto and husband, Beau of Atlanta, GA; brother, Bill Lanham and wife, Karen of Clemson; sister, Beth Lanham Redmond and husband, Jerry of Clemson; and grandchildren, Charley Grace and Harry James Hutto.
Memorial services will be 11 AM, Monday, March 14, 2022 at First Baptist of Clemson with Rev. Dr. Rusty Brock officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 in the Family Life Center prior to the service in the church.
