Jean Arlene Taras

Oct 27, 1925 — Sep 12, 2026

Jean Arlene Taras passed away on September 12, 2026, at the age of 100. Jean was born in Jersey Shore, PA, to the late Stearl Moyer and Jennie Bartges Moyer

Jean will be remembered as a caring homemaker who served her family with pride, joy and immense love. One of her greatest passions was found in cooking. Her home was always filled with aromas of culinary delights crafted in love. As an avid bowler, she celebrated her 94th birthday in the bowling alley out scoring all in attendance. As a member of the Lutheran church, she served her church community with love and devotion. In addition, Jean enjoyed volunteering by assisting the elderly and less fortunate. What may have seemed to be a quiet life, she enjoyed deep friendships that she nurtured and enjoyed for a lifetime. Above all else, her family was her proudest accomplishment, building a home with her husband Mike and their four boys filled with love and laughter. Her life reflected the love and care she gave to those closest to her.

Jean is survived by her sons, Michael Dean Taras (Liz), Kenneth Andrew Taras (Kay), Christopher Lee Taras and Steven Kent Taras; grandchildren, Katie, Justin, Lindsay, Michelle, Kelley & Emily; great-grandchildren, Austin, Alex, Wyatt, Harrison, Kenna, Kooper, Vivian & Blase IV.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Michael Andrew Taras; her brothers, Dean Moyer and Stearl Moyer; and her sister, Alice Wedlake.

Jean’s life was centered on home, family, and the simple things she loved. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
