Jean Eloise Woody Tulli, age 93, a cherished member of the Central, South Carolina community, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 21st, 2024. A memorial service honoring her life will take place at Clemson United Methodist Church on Friday, April 5th, 2024 at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00 am.
Jean, a longtime resident of Central, relocated to Clemson to be closer to family and devotedly worked at Clemson University until her retirement in 1996. An avid supporter of the Clemson Tigers, she passionately cheered them on in various sports. Jean was deeply engaged in the Clemson community, actively participating in her church, Rotary, Lions Club, Girl Scouts, and numerous other organizations. Her exemplary commitment to community service earned her several awards, including the prestigious South Carolina Jefferson Award.
Her most enduring legacy lies in the founding of Helping Hands, a local residential placement home for children. What began as a humble initiative to sponsor Christmas stockings for children through Social Services evolved into an emergency shelter placement facility and, ultimately, a transformative residential program for children. Over the years, Helping Hands has touched the lives of more than 8,500 children.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Anne Jordan of Statesville, NC; son-in-law David Laliberte of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren Faith Barbour and Toya Davis of Central, SC; Jennifer Laliberte-Gruber (Nick) of Lincoln, NE; Cameron Jordan McKinzie (Brian) of Chapel Hill, NC; and Graham Jordan (Brandon Padgett) of Statesville, NC. She is also remembered by her great-grandchildren: Braylon Barbour of Greenwood, SC; Harrison, Hawkins, and Hadleigh Gruber of Lincoln, NE; and Parker and Brooks McKinzie of Chapel Hill, NC. Jean was preceded in death by her daughters, Jean Laliberte and Jennifer Barbour, as well as her parents Julius and Loleta Woody and her brother Julius Graham Woody Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Helping Hands, PO Box 561, Clemson, SC 29631, the organization Jean cherished and dedicated her life to or to Clemson United Methodist Church, 300 Frontage Road, Clemson, SC 29631.
