Jeanette L. Beebe passed gently into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 15, at the age of 98 yrs. She was born March 11, 1926, in Amagansett, NY to Walter N. Loper and the former Lillian M. Rackett. She was married in 1947 to Thomas G. Beebe. Together they raised three children. She and her husband were avid square dancers and members of several clubs who joined together weekly to partake in the fun.
Mrs. Beebe was a homemaker, and a busy volunteer worker from her home. She taught herself to knit while a preteen and produced lovely items with intricate designs. When WWII broke out, she made knitted mittens, vests, socks, and bandages for the British War Relief, which was the predecessor of the Red Cross. All of her life, she used her skilled hands to help others, even after losing her sight, when she could no longer sew, or knit, she continued making lap blankets to donate to the Richard Campbell Veterans Home.
Mrs. Beebe moved to Pendleton, SC in 2006 with her daughter and son-in-law, and became a member of the Wren Baptist Church in Piedmont. She was predeceased by her husband who died in 1985 and a son, Thomas N. Beebe, in 2006. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Mike) Waygood of Pendleton and another son, John A. Beebe of Williamston, as well as 7 grandchildren, 11 Great-grandchildren, 4 Great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, July 20, at 5:00 PM in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, 305 W. Main Street, Easley, SC 29640, with Pastor David Shorter officiating. The service can be streamed live at Downtown Chapel Live Stream
