Jeanne Early Hagood, 88, formerly of Pickens, wife of the late Ben Folger Hagood, Jr., passed away Friday, September 11, 2015, at Clemson Downs.

Born August 25, 1927 in Charleston, Mrs. Hagood was the daughter of the late Horace Hobson and Alice Gary Early. She was a graduate of Memminger High School and received her degree in English from the University of South Carolina where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a member of the Pickens Presbyterian Church and the Pickens County Historical Society.

Surviving are her five children, Gary Hagood Brightwell (Mrs. Charles S.) of Walterboro, SC, Libby Hagood Lindsay (Mrs. Pickens M.) of Atlanta, GA, Ben Folger Hagood III (Sally) of Anderson, SC, Thomas Sellers Hagood (Marilyn) of Ft. Mill, SC, and Jeanne Clark Hagood of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren, Charles "Chad" Slaughter Brightwell, Jr., Andrew Hagood Brightwell, Elizabeth Lindsay Gates, Pickens McCollum Lindsay, Jr., Benjamin Clark Hagood, Mary Caroline Hagood, Lucille "Lucy" Ervin Hagood, and John "Jack" Robinson Hagood; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Gary Early of Mt. Pleasant, SC. She was predeceased by a brother, Horace Hobson Early Jr.

Funeral services will be held at Pickens Presbyterian Church in Pickens, SC, on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 11 o'clock in the morning conducted by the Rev. Nath Briley. The family will receive friends in the Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Private committal services will be at 10 a.m. at the Hagood Family Cemetery prior to the church service.
