Jelena Anders Steele

Jelena Anders Steele, 86, wife of the late George E. Steele, Jr. and formerly of Piedmont, SC, and Taylors, SC died Saturday, January 6, 2024, at home.

Born in Sampson County, NC, the daughter of the late Houston Cleo and Macy Gertrude Darden Anders, she retired after a long career in the South Carolina court system working primarily as the late S.C. Circuit Judge C. Victor Pyle Jr.’s secretary. 

Surviving are two daughters, Ann Garrett (Russell) of Jacksonville, FL and Lori Hall of Willow Spring, NC; two sons, Rusty Steele (Jan) of Easley, SC and Andy Steele (Kirstin) of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, Adam Palau, Josh Steele, Eric Palau and Zach Hall; and four great-grandchildren; and siblings, a brother Cloyce Anders (Carole) of Raleigh, NC and a sister Melba Brewer (Glenn) of Faison, NC.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will follow service.
