Mr. Jerry Claude Brooks, Sr., 84, husband of Peggy Sue Thornton Brooks, loving father and grandfather, passed away Friday, June 5, 2020.

Born in College Park, GA, a son of the late Johnny Bennett Brooks and the late Mattie Timms Brooks, Mr. Brooks received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Georgia Tech and retired from Springs Industry. He was a US Army and Navy Veteran.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of fifty-nine years, are a son, Jerry Claude Brooks, Jr. (Cathy) of Clover; two daughters, Apryll B. Smith of Easley, and Susan Brooks of Tryon, NC; a sister, Nancy LaGrasse (Thomas) of Winder, GA; four grandchildren, Melissa Chelak (Clint) of Santaquin, UT, Daniel Smith (Kileen) of Port Wentworth, GA, Harrison Brooks (Bethany) of Clover and Lauren Berlynn Brooks; and two great-grandchildren, Nova Petit and Luna Smith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks was predeceased by a brother, Dennis Fred Brooks.

A celebration of life will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2020 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Due to the COVID-19 Crisis only 50 persons will be allowed in the chapel for the service. To view the service scroll to the bottom of the page.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Brooks to Hospice of Rutherford County, Inc., P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
