Jerry Thomas Hunter, 87, of Easley, South Carolina, loving husband of Saundra Nix Hunter, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
Born on January 14, 1939 in Greenville County, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Brady Thomas and Nellie King Hunter. Jerry served in the Army, and throughout his life he was known as a man who could make or fix anything. He retired from Poe Corporation in Greenville, South Carolina after many years of employment, a reflection of his dedication and strong work ethic. He was also a mason with the Sam Poe Masonic Lodge #284 in Greenville, South Carolina, and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. In every part of his life, Jerry was described as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be remembered for his practical gifts, his faithful presence, and the care he gave so freely to his family and community.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by a daughter, Stacey Turner (Brett); five grandchildren, Jordan Turner, Elijah Turner (Sallie), Hunter Mote, Haley Heath (Trent), and Reagan Nix (Caleb); and six great-grandchildren, Ayden Stewart, Tex Turner, Kolton Heath, Waylon Turner, Stetson Heath, and Bear Turner.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Mote; and a sister, Joanne Kelly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM on Friday at the church prior to the service.
