Jerry Bennett Lesley, 78, of Central and the husband of Martha Newton Lesley, died Friday, December 16 at his home.

Born in Easley, he was the son of the late Charles Bennett and Agnes Bolding Lesley. Jerry was a graduate of Central High School, Presbyterian College and earned his Masters Degree from Clemson University. Jerry started his teaching and coaching career at Crescent High School and later retired from R. C. Edwards Middle School. Coach Lesley was a great supporter and fund raiser for the American Legion Post 52 baseball program and was a member of the Central Masonic Lodge 229. He was a member and elder of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, was a former Central Town Council member and served in the US Army. He was a member of the Tri County RC Fliers of Anderson.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Dena Elizabeth Myers and husband Stephen of Columbus, OH and Martha Gayle Lee and husband, Jeff of Easley; son, Jerry Bennett Lesley, Jr. and wife Maureen of Central; grandchildren, Lesley Bolds and husband, Ivan, Anna Myers, Elizabeth Lesley, Christopher Lee, Ryan Lee and wife, Annie, Kathryn Myers, Julia Lesley, Brooklyn Lesley and John Lesley.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson with private burial services to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Central.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 PM Sunday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Legion Post 52, 118A Legion Street, Easley, SC 29642 or to the charity of one's choice.
