Jerry Lodge

May 29, 1941 — April 7, 2017

Mr. William Jerry Lodge, 75, of Central, SC, husband of Cynthia Burkard Lodge (Cindy), went home with Jesus on April 7th, 2017 after prolonged health challenges.

Born in Mitchell County, GA, he was the son of the late John R. and Ruby M. Lodge. He was the original owner/operator of Lodge's Greenhouse and Nursery in Pendleton, SC. Throughout his retirement years, Jerry continued to garden and remained passionate about his love for plants and gardening. His yard was a favorite place for friends and family to visit, enjoying time on the porch and taking home vegetables. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Norris and Gideons International, Liberty Chapter. He also had opportunities to participate in many mission trips including Vermont, South Dakota, Kentucky, West Virginia and Mexico.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Cindy, are daughters, Barbara Lodge Dobbins and Brenda Lodge Thompson of Pendleton, son, Joey Lodge (Leslie) of Peachtree City, GA, two step sons, Ian M. Burkard (Allison) of Westchester, New York and Christopher J. Burkard (Nancy) of Greenville, SC, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Joan Singleton Lodge, his son in law, Joe Brent Dobbins, his grandson, Jason William Dobbins and all of his brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held on April 22nd at 1 pm at First Baptist Church of Norris with the Reverand Royce Addis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Norris - 118 North Norris Drive, Norris, South Carolina, 29667.
