Jerry A. Robertson, 78, of Easley, loving husband of Lynn Robertson, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on January 10, 1945, in Greenville, South Carolina, a son of the late James C. and Bernice Trotter Robertson. Jerry attended Southern Wesleyan University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in special education. He furthered his education by earning a master’s degree in special education from Furman University. It was during this time that Jerry developed a deep passion for supporting and teaching children with special needs. Jerry's career was diverse and impactful. For many years, he co-owned Shady Side Florist in Easley, where he became well-known throughout the community for his dedication to crafting beautiful flower arrangements. With his artistry and expertise, he contributed to over 1,000 weddings, helping couples create unforgettable memories on their special day. In addition to his work in the floral industry, Jerry demonstrated an unwavering commitment to education. He served as a special education teacher for the School District of Pickens County at Liberty Middle School and Forest Acres Elementary School. His exceptional teaching skills were recognized statewide when he received the prestigious award for being one of the top five teachers in South Carolina. Even beyond state borders, Jerry's dedication to his students earned him recognition as one of the top twenty teachers in the nation by USA Today. Following his retirement from teaching, Jerry continued his mission to support educators by working for the state of South Carolina in teacher recruitment and retention. His efforts to attract talented individuals into the education field will have a lasting impact on future generations. Jerry loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the center of his world. Jerry was a long-time member of Easley Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife of 38 years, Jerry is survived by four children, James Kelley Robertson, Craig Carmack Robertson (Jennifer), Anna Robertson Bahn (Clayton), and Adair Robertson Moore; a brother, Fred Robertson; and four grandchildren, Keeley Robertson, Hudson Bahn, Campbell Bahn, and Merritt Moore.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road.
