Jesse Thomas Ross
--Easley
Mr. Jesse Thomas Ross, 93, of 110 Willow Place Apt. 212, husband of Elvira Perry Ross, went to meet his precious Lord, Monday, December 19, 2011 at his home.
Born June 1, 1918 in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Thomas and Kizzie Jane Henson Ross. Mr. Ross was a WWII veteran serving in the United States Air Force in the European Theater. After his service years he became associated with the staff of the Easley Progress as Vice-President, Secretary and Superintendent from 1946-1978. The Progress pioneered in newspaper lithography and Mr. Ross made up the first off-set newspaper in SC. In 1981 he retired as Vice-President, Secretary and Superintendent of Martin Printing, Co. in Easley. As a member of Georges Creek Baptist Church, he served for 42 years as a layman in many phases of church work. He served as director of Baptist Men of the Baptist Association for fourteen years and was an officer in Brotherhood and Royal Ambassadors for many years. He was also the Secretary of the SC Brotherhood Communication. In later years he was active as a layman at First Baptist Church of Pickens and Geer Memorial Baptist Church. Jesse was known and loved by many friends and family as "Daddy T�??. He was in constant touch with each special one, and never let them forget his interest.
In addition to his wife of seventy one years, he is survived by his daughters, Janice Brown (Harlow) of Asheville, NC, Sandra Shunk (James) of Fort Myers, FL, Kathy Kaulitz (Garry) of Anchorage, AK, and Frances Doolittle (Michael) of Lincolnton, GA, son, Eston Ross (Sue) of Gilford, NH; sister, Mildred Poole, of Easley; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Georges Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
