Jessie Brown Reid

Mrs. Jessie Brown Reid, 96, wife of the late William McDuffie Reid, of Piedmont, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, September 24, 2022.

Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Jesse H. Brown and the late Sally Hawthorn Brown, Mrs. Reid was a charter member of the Wren Homemakers Club and retired from the Wren High School lunch room with 26 years of service. She was also a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church.

Mrs. Reid loved nature. She would spend time gardening and bird watching; particularly hummingbirds. She also loved reading and by doing so she felt like she could visit anywhere.

Surviving are her two sons, Phillip B. Reid (Susan), and Steve Reid (Patty), both of Piedmont; her daughter, Dianne Reid of Anderson; a sister, Sara Shipman of Greenville; three grandchildren, Joshua Kyle Reid, Asheton Reid, and Katie Herd (Jake); and one great-grandchild, Kerrigan Herd.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Mountain Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 1:00-1:45 pm at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Springs Baptist Church, 410 Mountain Springs Road, Piedmont, SC 29673.
