Jessie Crisp Alexander Shirley, 99, of Central and widow of Henry Ard Shirley, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Rainey Hospice House, Anderson, SC.
Born on March 23, 1910 in Oconee County, a daughter of the late Walter and Hettie Crisp Alexander, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was the oldest member of Central First Baptist Church.
Surviving are, one son, Robert C. Shirley (Carolyn) of Pendleton; one daughter, Patricia S. Collins (Roy) of Central; Grandchildren, Thomas R. Shirley (Gina), Debbie S. Donnelly (Brian), Sheryl C. McElwee (Joe), Marshall C. Collins (Janie), and Marion R. Collins (Gail); eleven great-grandchildren, Justin and Michael Shirley, Katelyn Donnelly; Wil and Hannah Collins, Barron, Tripp, Anna and Margaret McElwee; Clark and Kelsey Collins.
A Celebration of Life will be 3:30 PM, Sunday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Qualkinbush officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:15, Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Central First Baptist Church, 207 Johnson Road, Central, SC 29630, to East Clemson Baptist Church Building Fund, 130 Frontage Road, Clemson, SC 29631 or to the Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
The families will be at their respective homes.
