Jewell Estelle Merck

Jewell Estelle Ellenburg Merck, 81, wife of Rev. David E. Merck passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.

Jewell was born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late John Ellenburg and Effie Burns. She was a homemaker and she worked for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a member of the Blythewood Church of God of Prophecy.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 63 years are four sons, Mike Merck (Dawn) of Spartanburg, Ronnie Merck (Rose) of Piedmont, Rick Merck (Pam) of Norris and Mark Merck of Central; daughter, Sheila Merck of Taylors; brothers, John Ellenburg of Portland, Oregon, Buddy Ellenburg of Simpsonville and Cecil Hubbard of Anderson; sister, Pat Boggs of Central; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Gene Burns and Harold Burns.

A private graveside service was held on Monday, November 23, 2020 in the Six Mile Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery.

The family of Jewell Merck would like to express their special thanks to the Interim Hospice Staff and especially Jill, Tam, Savannah and Tina for their loving care for their mother.
