James Howard "Jim" Morgan, 82, of 851 Zion School Road, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2008 at his home.

Jim was born in Nantahala, NC, and raised in the coal mining town of Lynch, KY. He was a son of the late Bass B. and Maude Howard Morgan. For 41 years, he was the owner and C.E.O. of Roseville Machine Repair in Detroit, MI, and for 34 years in Easley. Jim was a US Marine Corps Veteran of WWII, having served active duty in Guam. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Chapel in Pickens and the Bates Masonic Lodge, No. 189 in Easley. He was the Chairman of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (S.M.E.) Chapter 142 in 1970-1971. He was president of the White Rock Chapter of the Huron County Historical Society in Michigan in 1975-1976. He was a pilot from 1948 and operated two planes for 18 years.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife, Ruth Jaenisch Morgan, of the home; sister-in-law Nancy Wilson of Great Falls, MT; brothers-in-law, Arnold Jaenisch, Rodney Jaenisch and wife Tammy, of Clara City, MN; sister-in-law Rosy Jaenisch and husband Dennis Suflow of Clara City, MN, Mabel Lunsford of Easley; an aunt, Alma Marshall of Clearwater, FL; and his special friends, Chuck and Marilyn Zanzig of Easley. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-mother, Goldie Morgan; brother and sister-in-law, Baylus and Mary Morgan; half-brother Richard Morgan; sister Beatrice Schultz; brother-in-law Michael Wilson; sisters-in-law Chereen and Sharon Jaenisch; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 11 AM Thursday at Faith Lutheran Chapel in Pickens with Reverend Maria Miller officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Chapel; 108 West Baker Street; Pickens, SC 29671 or to Shriner's Hospital for Children; 950 West Faris Road; Greenville, SC 29605.
