Obituary for Jimmy Drew Hendrix

Jimmy Drew Hendrix, 73, widower of Velma Ann Chapman Hendrix passed away, Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Clemson Heritage in Clemson.

A native of Central, SC, Jimmy was a son of the late Cleo H. and Wilma Hughes Hendrix. He earned an associate degree from Tri County Technical College. He was a former employee with Duke Power and retired from Michelin. Jimmy was a lifelong and very active member of Cannon Memorial Baptist Church having served as a Deacon, was a cook for many of their church activities and served on other committees for the church.

Mr. Hendrix is survived by his son: Tim Hendrix and his wife Heather of Walhalla, SC; daughter, Hope Shirley and her husband, Kendall of Central, SC; brother: Larry Hendrix and his wife Carol of Walhalla, SC; brother-in-law: Dwight Newell of Central; grandchildren: Peyton and Morgan Hendrix and Anna Grace Shirley.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jimmy was predeceased by his sister, Louise Newell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 PM, Monday, February 16, 2026 at Cannon Memorial Baptist Church with burial to follow at Memory Gardens, Central, SC.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:50 PM, Monday prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cannon Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund.

The family is at their respective homes.
