Jimmy J. Kimble, 83, husband of Robinette Kimble passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 12, 2023.
Jimmy was born in Hickory, NC to John Earl Kimble, Sr. and Ruth Tuttle Kimble and spent most of his childhood years in High Point, NC. Jimmy graduated with a bachelors from Central Wesleyan College and a masters from UNC Greensboro. After college, Jimmy was a teacher and later the principal at Trinity Elementary School in Trinity, NC. In 1968 Jimmy moved to Central, SC where he worked as the registrar for Central Wesleyan College, now known as Southern Wesleyan University, until he retired in 2001. Jimmy loved the Lord, his family, his friends, and his church family. Jimmy attended Alive Wesleyan Church in Central, SC where he was a member for 55 years.
Jimmy had a wide variety of interests. He was an artistic and creative person who painted with oils and watercolors, taught painting classes, and owned a framing business. One of his favorite hobbies was model railroading and being a member of the Central Railroad Museum. Another of his passions was gardening, especially raising roses. He was fascinated by genealogy and immersed himself in researching his family history. His love of learning was reflected in the many hobbies he had over the years.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Robinette Speer Kimble of 60 years, are his son Steve Kimble and wife, Karen of Central; daughter Sharon Kimble and husband, Chris Davis of Easley; grandchildren Clayton Kimble and wife, Makenzie, Matthew Kimble and wife, Morgan, Ethan Kimble, and Bailey Davis; great-grandchildren Ellie J. Kimble, Paisleigh Kimble, Beau Kimble, and Addie-James Kimble; sister-in-law Rosalyn Bowman; many nieces and nephews; and special caregiver Tasha Vandiver.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Prisma Health Hospice of the Foothills for their care and support.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM, Monday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Road, Central.
A service to celebrate Jimmy's life will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 15, 2023, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum, 586 Issaqueena Trail, Clemson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southern Wesleyan University via their website.
