Jimmy Duncan McGarity

Jimmy Duncan McGarity, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at his home on December 14, 2023, after an extended illness. He was born on December 29, 1946, in Hartwell, Georgia to Billy Joe McGarity and Martha Duncan Michael.

Jimmy was retired from Bell South where he worked as an electronics technician. After retiring, he enjoyed remodeling and flipping houses. He worked with Boy Scout Troop 210 in Powdersville. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Vicki McGarity, daughters Kimberly Davis (Ned) of Newberry, SC, and Jennifer McGarity Trotter of Easley, SC, sisters Jill Anderton, Toni Crane, Tina Sims (Butch), grandchildren Erica Duncan (Jonathan) of Easley, SC, Jessica Davis currently teaching in Kenya, Africa, Evan Armstrong (Kayla) of Easley, SC, and Blake Armstrong of Easley, SC, and three great-granddaughters.

He is preceded in death by brothers Terry McGarity and Jeff Poston.

A visitation will be held on December 19, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Bethesda United Methodist Church located at 516 Piedmont Rd in Easley, SC. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location.

Jimmy will forever be remembered as a loving individual who made a lasting impact on the lives of those around him. His warm smile and kind heart will be deeply missed.
