Jo Nell Herron Newton, 79, of 409 W. Main Street and formerly of Easley, wife of George I. Newton, passed away at her home on May 13, 2008 wiith her family by her side after several years of declining health.

Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Joe Winfred and Dever Whitfield Herron of Seneca.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Jo Nell owned and operated The Liberty House, Bed & Breakfast in Liberty, SC for the past 18 years and was a life long bookkeeper working for Easley Builders Supply/Newton's Ace Hardware.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Southern Wesleyan University for 32 years and attended the First Wesleyan Church of Central.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 58 years are: two children, George Donald Newton and wife Linda of Easley and a Special daughter, Saundra Renee Newton of the home; two grandchildren, Patrick Evan Newton and Elizabeth Diana Newton both of Easley; one brother, Winfred Arnestine (Pinky) Herron and wife, Namoi (Snuggy) of Pendleton; and sisters, Dorothy Lee Adams and June Marie Talley and husband, William (Bill) Talley of Seneca.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Saturday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Friday at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Southern Wesleyan University, 907 Wesleyan Drive, Central, SC 29630.
