Joan Ann Martin Cornine, 89, of Easley, beloved wife of the late Arnold Cornine, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026. Born on December 13, 1936, in Glen Ridge, NJ, to the late Charles Martin and the late Evelyn Kiggins Martin. Her parents immigrated from England to Ellis Island, NY. She was a cherished member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church.
During her professional career, she was the office manager at Dow Lohnes Price Tax Consultants.
Joan was admired for her beautiful gray hair, a symbol of her elegant spirit and grace. She was an avid reader who delighted in all varieties of books, especially horror novels, always eager to explore new worlds through literature. Her love for storytelling extended into her enjoyment of the Lord of the Rings movie series, which she cherished as a source of wonder and adventure, a hobby she shared with her late husband and her son.
A passionate lover of food, Joan found special joy in dining out at restaurants, savoring new dishes and sharing meals with friends and loved ones. Among her treasured hobbies, she collected bells, a unique pursuit that brought her great satisfaction and connected her to memories and moments throughout her life.
Joan proudly played both the piano and the organ, talents that were a source of personal pride and brought beauty to those around her. Her musical gifts enriched many gatherings and services, contributing to the spiritual fabric of St. Michael's Episcopal Church's Christmas Eve service.
After 25 years of living in Long Island, New York, Joan and her husband made their home in the upstate, embracing the change and growing roots in her new community with warmth and openness.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she is preceded in death by brother, Charles K. Martin.
She is survived by daughter, Lisa Shickler, son, Stephen Cornine and grandchildren, Jake Andrew and Benjamin Lee Shickler.
Joan's memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church.

Joan lived a life filled with rich experiences and deep passions, leaving behind a legacy that touched many.
