Joan Mackey McKnight, 95, of Easley, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Born in Locke, NY, she was a daughter of the late George Stephen Mackey and Carlene Simon Mackey

Mrs. McKnight attended Tusculum College and later graduated from Central Wesleyan College. She worked for many years in the mental health community, where she was loved and admired by all her residents. She was a member of St. Andrew Methodist Church, where she loved worshipping her Lord and Savior. She also enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children, Sandra Jean Mahaffey (Paul), Ann Thomas, Ralph N. McKnight (Dedee), and Stephen McKnight (Karen); grandchildren, Jonathan Mahaffey (Kelsey), Katie Mahaffey (Nate Dore), Carly Mahaffey, Christy McDougald (Jason), Kevin Moore, Lance McKnight (Anne Marie), Jessica Talbert (Shane), Melissa Baker (Justin), Stephen McKnight (Hannah), and Calvin McKnight (Kacie); ten great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Glenn Moore.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Virginia Lee McKnight Moore; a son-in-law, JR Thomas; and siblings, Marion Patton, Carolyn Andre, George Stephen Mackey Jr., and Edwin Deforest Mackey.

A memorial service celebrating Joan’s life will be on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Easley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew Methodist Church, 309 Pelzer Highway, Easley, SC 29642.
