Joanna Walker Seitz

May 25, 1942 — March 15, 2025

Clemson

Joanna Walker Seitz, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully in Clemson, South Carolina on March 15, 2025. Born May 25, 1942, in Clemson to parents Joseph Shelor Walker and Alma Louise Clark, Joanna was immensely proud of her family and loved growing up in Clemson.

Joanna graduated from Daniel High School and attended Tri-County Technical College. Joanna married Larry Keith Seitz, of Morrisonville, Illinois in 1961 and they had two children, Sandra Rae Seitz, and Lawrence Keith Seitz (Junior). She divorced but remained a strong and supportive presence in the lives of her children.

She worked for Clemson University in the Graduate Admissions Office and the Office of International Programs and Services. She spent several years working as director of sales in the hotel business and later enjoyed working in the Greenville area as a realtor. She moved to Scottsdale, Arizona to help raise her grandson, Robert, where she learned how to paint.

Her heart eventually led her back to Clemson. She attended Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (Olli) on a regular basis, where she loved spending time with her fellow artists learning and painting. Several of her paintings are hanging at Olli and the Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca.

Joanna also loved her swimming pool time at the Central-Clemson Recreation Center where she felt free, refreshed, and energized. Joanna was enthusiastic about cooking, especially for her family and many friends. She was a member of Clemson United Methodist Church.

Joanna leaves behind a daughter and a son and their families: daughter Sandy Flaschner, her husband, John Flaschner, their son Robert Flaschner, his wife, Sophia, and their daughter, Elise Flaschner, from Florida; and son Keith Seitz, his wife, Tess, their daughter, Lillian, and son, Cole, from Lyman, South Carolina.

Joanna also leaves her devoted younger brother, Joseph Walker, his wife, Edna, and their children: Heather Allison, her husband, Gregg, and their sons Walker and Jennings from Columbia, South Carolina; and Joshua Walker, his wife, Kimberlee, and their son, Cooper, from Horseshoe, North Carolina.

Joanna also leaves her sister Dorothy Anderson’s children: Tripp Anderson, his wife, Beth and their daughters, Maggie, and Kate, from Black Mountain, North Carolina; and daughter Wendy Anderson, from Canton, Georgia.

And her sister Sarah Cureton’s daughters: Denise Morgan, her husband, Brad and their daughter, Sally, from Jasper, Georgia; Pat Terry, her husband, Kelly and their children Don and Laura from Flower Mound, Texas; and Kim Moore, her husband, Jeff and their daughter, Amanda from Seneca, South Carolina.

A celebration of life will take place on November 7, 2025, at 11:00am at Clemson United Methodist Church, located at 300 Frontage Road, Clemson, SC 29631.
