Mr. Joe McCall "Joe Mac" Freeman, 76, husband of Jean McAlister Freeman, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012 after a period of declining health.
Born in Piedmont, SC, he was a son of the late James Newton Freeman, Sr. and the late Effie McCall Freeman. Mr. Freeman retired from Easley Combined Utilities and was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Joe Mac was a member of the Mountain Springs Masonic Lodge 302, Woodmen of the World, an honorary member of the Three and Twenty Fire Department and served in the SC National Guard for fifteen years.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of forty-nine years are three children, Jeanna F. Greene (Tim) of Easley, Melissa F. Mattison (Ken) of Piedmont and Joseph K. Freeman, Sr. of Easley; six grandchildren, David F. Greene, Joseph K. Freeman, Jr., William G. Greene, Caroline Crowe, McKenzie Mattison and Katherine McCall "Katie Mac" Mattison. In addition to his parents, Mr. Freeman was predeceased by one brother, one sister, and he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the church social hall from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
The family is at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Ken Mattison, 3501 Highway 86, Piedmont, SC 29673.
