Parker League

Easley, SC

Joe “Parker” League, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on his birthday, Friday, September 11, 2026.

Born in Greenville, Parker was the only child of the late Reverend Wyatt Edgar League and Janett Tatham League.

Affectionately known as “Pop,” he was a 1958 graduate of Easley High School and graduated from Clemson University in 1972, earning a bachelor’s degree in financial management. As a young man, Parker proudly served as a member of the United States Air Force Reserve. He went on to a successful career as a mortgage executive with First Federal of South Carolina, where he was respected for his work ethic, dedication, and integrity.

Parker’s greatest joy was his family. A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he cherished every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. He was also known for his wonderful sense of humor, which brought warmth and laughter to the lives of those around him. Outside of family, Parker enjoyed golfing, wogging, collecting antique cars and furniture, and cheering on the Clemson Tigers. He held a special place in his heart for the family’s furbabies and was a member of Easley First Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, Sandra Carman League, Parker is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Lane (Alan) of Easley and June Smith (Michael) of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Alex Lane, Patrick Lane (Audrey), Elizabeth Hall, and Preston Hall; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt Lane, Colette Lane, and Grady Lane.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 10, from 1:00–2:30 p.m. in the Narthex at Easley First Baptist Church, 300 East 1st Avenue, Easley, SC 29640. The family will hold a private service to celebrate Parker's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorials be made to The Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Road, Greenville, SC 29607; Easley First Baptist Church Legacy Fund, 300 East First Avenue, Easley, SC 29640; or Prisma Health Hospice of the Foothills, 440 Roper Mountain Road, Suite C, Greenville, SC 29615.
