Joe A. Martin, 74, of Central passed away March 6, 2013 at his home.
Born in 1938 in Central, he was a son of the late William Henry and Jesse Mae Roper Martin. He was a graduate of Daniel High School. Joe was the Founder and CEO of M.S.T. Concrete Products, Inc. He was a longtime owner of Martin Pines, his cattle farm and was a member of the Pickens County Cattlemen's Association. He served for many years on the Pickens County Board of Appeals and was a member of the Central Masonic Lodge and the Hejaz Shrine Temple. Joe was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Clemson and an avid Clemson Tiger fan.
Surviving are daughter, Lisa Martin McCall and husband Mike of Anderson; son, Edward H. Martin and wife Karen of Central; daughter, Lynn Martin and John Wisham of Central; granddaughter, Leslie McCall Hunter and husband, Jeff; grandson, Tyler M. McCall of Anderson; granddaughter, Caroline E. Martin of Clemson; and step-grandsons, Jared R. Alewine and wife, Tracy of Greenville and Hayden E. Alewine of Lexington, KY; a great-granddaughter, Springer Alewine; sister, Elizabeth Phillips of Clemson; numerous nieces and nephews; and loyal caregiver, Ann Cromer.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Linda Webb Martin; and brothers, Thurston, Leland, William, Glen and Carl Martin.
A celebration of Papa Joe's life will be 2 PM, Saturday at First Baptist Church of Clemson with Rev. Rusty Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Clemson.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 Friday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the building fund of The First Baptist Church of Clemson, 397 College Avenue, Clemson, SC 29631.
