Joe Henry Sweatmon, 75, of 302 Meadow Ridge Road, died Friday, March 10, 2006, in Cherokee, N.C.
Mr. Sweatmon was born in Ashville, NC to the late Dewey Jerry and Bertha Bryson Sweatmon. He graduated from Parker High School and retired from CRSS Engineering. For the past five years he enjoyed work camping in Cherokee, NC. He was a member and trustee of St. Paul United Methodist Church. An avid square dancer, Mr. Sweatmon was a charter member of Daisy Chains Square Dance Club. Mr. Sweatmon served with honor in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Grace Gibson Sweatmon, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, P.J. and Tom Williamson of Easley; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Vern Bennett of Salt Lake City, Utah; two grandchildren, Andrea Lee and Joey Williamson; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Sweatmon was predeceased by a brother, Fred "Flash" Sweatmon.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 P.M. Monday, prior to the service.
